Traffic Stop Leads to a Chase and then a Foot Chase in Eastern Houston County

HOUSTON COUNTY: Just before midnight last night a Ashford Police Officer made a traffic stop on US 84 in Ashford. The driver gave false information to the officer, so the officer asked the driver to step out but instead the driver took off.
The Ashford Officer gave chase, the speeds reached around 130 mph at one point. The chase went all the way to Gordon. When the driver reached Gordon he went behind the Marathon Station. The Ashford Officer followed but the driver attempted to run one more time striking the Police vehicle head-on.
The drive then fled on foot crossing the four lane. While this was going on more law enforcement were responding to assist the officer. Unit from Ashford Police, Gordon Police, Houston County Sheriff's Office, Webb Police and Dothan Police responded to the call for help.
Ashford and Dothan deployed K-9 units and a short time later the suspect was in custody. The Ashford Officer was taken to the hospital for injuries but was released.
The suspect was charged with 2 counts of assaulting a police officer and booked into the Houston County Jail with more charges pending.
