JACKSON COUNTY:  At 6:30 PM.. Fire units ( Tankers ) from Cottonwood and Lucy were requested to help with a structure fire at 4553 Dunaway Road South East of Bascom. The response time is approx. 28 minutes from Cottonwood. It's not clear what type of structure is on fire but water is a problem in the area.

JACKSON COUNTY FL:    This evening Jackson County Sheriff 911 Center contacted Houston County Sheriff 911 Center and requested mutual aid assistance in a structure fire.

The structure fire location was 4553 Dunaway Road in Bascom Florida. Malone Fire requested water tanker assistance from the two Houston County UNPAID PROFESSIONAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS.

Responding to the scene with water tanker trucks were Lucy UNPAID PROFESSIONAL FIRE and Cottonwood UNPAID PROFESSIONAL FIRE. Cottonwood requested Dothan - Houston Couty Emergency Management also respond along with the two Houston County Fire Departments rolling. 

Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah and Rickey Stokes rolled to Bascom Florida.

On arrival the residence was a single story residential structure. There were no fire hydrants. The Florida departments set up a water tank on the ground and departments were dumping water and shuttling the water from hydrants to the water tank.

Malone Florida Fire was pumping water on the fire, Jackson County Fire was pumping water from the holding tank into the Malone Fire truck. And other departments were shuttling water.

COMPLIMENTS to the fire departments for their organization and efforts to save the structure. Two Jackson County Fire - Rescue Ambulances were on the scene standing by for the safety of the fireman.

Florida EMS and Fire are not hesitant to cross the border into Alabama when emergencies occur near the Florida and Alabama borders. It is a great working relationship.

The same goes for most agencies around. Take Henry County and Houston County. Often times Kinsey UNPAID PROFESSIONAL FIRE responds to Headland and Headland Responds to Kinsey. Headland Rescue also covers Kinsey area. The county lines do not mean anything to the responders. Saving lives and property is what the meaning is.

Same goes for Dale and Geneva County. Areas all around will cross the county boundaries to assist.
