HENRY COUNTY: Tonight reports of an officer getting shot in Abbeville. Others officers and Deputies from Henry, Houston and Dothan are responding to the scene.
It is not known what or why the officer was shot but the officer is being transported to a Dothan Hospital.
We will update as more information becomes available.

No officer has been shot. The call came out as OFFICER IN TROUBLE.
Law Enforcement Officers from all over the area responded. No Law Enforcement Officer has been shot.
One person under police escort has been transported to a hospital.
About 50 officers are on the scene.

From what is understood at this point, there was a disturbance at the apartments in Abbeville, Deerun or Deerfield, which is off Highway 431 behind Hardee's.
As officers arrived the altercation and number of people involved and around escalated. A person was shot by a unknown person. NO ONE WAS SHOT BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER and NO law enforcement officer was shot.
Mixed information came out as the situation was developing as to officer in trouble and some information came out as a officer had been shot. But understand that information was rapidly developing and escalating in seconds.
Law Enforcement Officers from multiple jurisdictions rolled; Henry County Sheriff Department and Sheriff Maddox, Dale County Sheriff Department and Chief Deputy Mason Bynum, Barbour County Sheriff Department and Sheriff Tyrone Smith, Houston County Sheriff Deputies, Eufaula Police Officers, ALEA-State Troopers, Dothan Police Officers and other agencies responded. About 50 plus people were on the scene and at least 50 law enforcement officers.
Officers had to obtain a search warrant in order to make entrance into one of the apartments in search for suspect(s) of the shooting.
The shooting victim was transported by Abbeville Rescue to a Dothan hospital. Multiple Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Deputies to include Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza were on the scene at the hospital. Webb Police Officer Robert Jones assisted on the scene at the hospital. There was a large crowd at the hospital.
The person shot has died. Henry County Coroner Derek Wright has been called to the hospital.
Multiple law enforcement agencies and officers are still on the scene in Abbeville. Some subjects have been taken into custody for failure to obey commands and crossing the crime scene tape and other charges.
The investigation is continuing. Headland Rescue is on the scene standing by for the safety of all involved.

Henry County Coroner Derek Wright has identified the deceased as Tommy Jerome Grace, age 31.
Grace died of a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at a Dothan Hospital.
