DOTHAN: We have written articles where Dothan Fire Department has to be prepared for "those that have not happen yet".
This morning was an example of that.
At 10:50 AM Dothan 911 dispatched a structure fire at 1801 Ross Clark Circle, Kentucky Fried Chicken.
At 10:53 AM Dothan 911 dispatched a vehicle fire at 2109 Ross Clark Circle - Hodgesville Road.
Both fires, a three minute difference in dispatch, are in Dothan Fire Engine 4 ( Southside ) territory.
The KFC fire being called in as a structure fire, the responding fire engines would be in this order: (1) Engine 4 - Southside (2) Engine 5 - Eastside (3) Engine 1 - Central (4) Engine 2 ( Lakewood ).
The Hodgesville Road fire, the responding engines would be in this order: (1) Engine 4 - Southside (2) Engine 2 - Lakewood (3) Engine 5 - Eastside (4) Engine 1 - Central.
Both calls, the engines to roll are the same. But two fires, two different locations, within a three minute window of time.
The KFC fire was cancelled. But what if it had been a real fire?
That is why plans, back up plans and back up plans to the back up plans.
