DOTHAN: Information Technology changes hourly. About four and a half years ago Tim Stewart, Information Director for the City of Dothan retired.
For some 4 1/2 years and multiple advertisements for the position Dothan City Manager Mike West has decided on a recommendation to the Dothan City Commission of a new Information Technology Director.
On Tuesday Dothan City Manager Mike West will recommend to the Dothan City Commission they hire Jack Mason.
Mason comes to Dothan from Marianna Florida. We do not know much about Jack Mason, his resume or how he stacks up to the current Dothan Information Technology staff. Mason comes from a Distribution Center in Marianna Florida.
SHOUT OUT to Rob Meredith and the staff of the City of Dothan Information Technology staff.
For some 4 1/2 years Rob Meredith has been the acting department head of Dothan's Information Technology Department. He has kept the ship afloat in a area that changes hourly in the forms of technology. It is that department that runs everything computer wise for the entire City of Dothan. From fire, to police to utilities, to everything. And as you know, technology changes rapidly and swiftly.
We welcome John Mason and look forward to his introduction to the people he will be working with in Information Technology. I am sure in the weeks ahead Dothan City Manager Mike West will introduce Jack Mason to the staff.
I WONDER IF A SALARY OF $ 125,000.00 A YEAR WILL BE PAID TO JACK MASON?
The final decision is not that of Mike West. That final decision will be that of Kevin Dorsey. Amos Newsome, Albert Kirkland, Mike Schmitz, John Ferguson, Beth Kenward and David Crutchfield.
The City Manager can only recommend but can not make the final decision.
Again, enough compliments can not go out to the current Information Technology Staff and Robb Meredith. You have kept the ship running for almost a half of a decade with no department head. A half of a decade while Mike West could make a decision.
A FUNNY NOTE
You do realize...Kevin Dorsey ran for and was elected as a Dothan Commissioner. Served four years and was re-elected to serve another four years in the time it took for Dothan City Manager Mike West to make a decision on a Information Technology Director.
Good luck to Mr. Mason.
