A Few Bible Thoughts For Your Day

Hey everybody!

I hope your week is off to a great start.  We have been having great services here at Enon and would love to have you come be a part of it if you aren't currently.  For today, here are a few thoughts.

There Is A Way …

"I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps" (Jer. 10:23).  The way of man can often direct us into forbidden paths that lead only to ruin.  Jesus spoke of "the broad way" with a "wide gate" (Matt. 7:13) that looks good, but eventuates in torment.  Every way of man "right in his own eyes" is the reality which is expressed in Prov. 21:2.  In the sad book of Judges, we learn that when we follow our own guidelines, chaos and sorrow rule our lives (Judg. 17:6).

Jesus Christ came to give light to those in darkness and to guide our feet in the way of peace (Luke 1:79).  When we follow Jesus, we find peace and precious promises in the glorious beauty of holiness.  The walk of spirituality is blessed by forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ (1 John 1:7) that grants the sweetest fellowship this side of heaven (Gal. 5:16-26).  A rich song declares:

I walk today where Jesus walked in days of long ago.

I wandered down each path He knew, with reverent step and slow.

Those little lanes have not changed, a sweet peace fills the air. . .

I walked today where Jesus walked, and felt His presence there!

The book of Proverbs challenges us to realize that "the way of the unfaithful is hard" (Prov. 13:15), and, "Fools mock at sin" (Prov. 14:9).  When we become flippant concerning immoral and shady conduct, we march down a broad path that winds up in hell.  The "pleasures of sin" are just not worth it!

To walk in the way of sinners is a sad choice of life-style (Psa. 1:1).  Satan has arranged a losing game called progressive shame.  Little by little, we become more and more enamored with ungodliness and finally wind up in the garbage dump of evil.  The path of least resistance comes straight from the devil's tool box!  Jude writes, "Woe to them!  For they have gone in the way of Cain" (Jude 1:11).

The highway of holiness, referred to in Isa. 35, is a picture of the salvation we rejoice in today in New Testament Christianity.  No one walks there accidentally.  We definitely choose to walk "the way of the cross" that brings redemption, joy and peace (Rom. 14:17).  If we follow the Lamb wherever He goes (Rev. 14:4), we will wind up on a golden street beyond this veil of tears.  Enoch walked with God (Gen. 5:22), and God took him to be at home in glory.  May we so walk!

"Lift up your heads, O you gates!  And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!  And the King of glory shall come in" (Psa. 24:7).  Jesus has gone to prepare us a place.  May we ever proceed on the path that leads us there.

Have a great week!
