The Dystonia Support Group of Alabama is meeting in Dothan, Alabama on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Dystonia is the third most common neurological movement disorder following Parkinson’s disease and tremors and affects many people in the wiregrass area. This meeting is for the Dystonia patient, caretakers, family and/or friends. Please feel free to attend regardless of the role you have concerning Dystonia. We are honored to announce Dr. David Standaert from the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) will be speaking. Dr. Standaert is the Director for the UAB Center for Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapeutics (CNET) and the Director for the Division of Movement Disorders. Dr. Standaert will have a presentation on the latest ongoing research at UAB on Dystonia. After the presentation, Dr. Standaert will be available to answer your questions concerning Dystonia. We will be meeting at Covenant United Methodist Church located in Dothan at 3610 West Main Street. The room is C116 located in the Christian Life Center. We will have a meet and greet time beginning at approximately 9:30 am and we will begin the meeting at 10:00 am. The meeting will adjourn no later than 11:30 am.
