HEADLAND. . .Ann Marshall Armstrong, a resident of Headland, died early Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016, at her home. She was 81.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 29, 2016, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, between Headland and Columbia. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church “Bridge To Tomorrow” Building Fund, 301 East Church Street, Headland, AL 36345.


            Mrs. Armstrong was born on September 13, 1934 to the late John Wesley Marshall and Addie Mae Armstrong Marshall in the Hebron Community of Henry County. She attended Hebron School and was a graduate of Headland High School. Mrs. Armstrong married Linton Maleon Armstrong in June, 1952. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland and the Marilyn McClendon Sunday School Class. Mrs. Armstrong was retired from SouthTrust Bank and was formerly employed by the Headland National Bank. Mrs. Armstrong had a love for her kitchen. She was a wonderful cook and loved sharing delicious baked goods with friends and family. She was a generous person with a sweet spirit, who loved her family and helping others. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her husband, Linton Maleon Armstrong, a son, Wesley Len Armstrong, a sister, Ruth Saunders, and three brothers, Rudolph Marshall, Frank Marshall and Marvette Marshall.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Tammy Knowles, Headland; and Suzanne Monday, Dothan; a son, Gregg Armstrong (Vicki), Headland; a sister, Marie Trawick (Bud), Cottonwood; a sister-in-law, Ruth Marshall, Columbia; eight grandchildren, Wesley Armstrong (Janet), Ashley Wimberly, Alyssa Driggers (Cory), Amy Kennedy (Nathan), Charley Tew (Carla), Anna Knowles, Katie Hester (Kraig), and Mason Monday; ten great-grandchildren.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Mason Monday, Kraig Hester, Wesley Armstrong, Wallace Arnold, Benton Beasley and Mac Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mrs. Armstrong’s Sunday School Class.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Elizabeth Tucker and also to caregiver, Malena Ethridge, and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown during her illness.
