Barbara June Parker Cooper


Barbara June Cooper of Marianna, Fl. went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday afternoon May 13, 2018 after an extended illness.


A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday May 19, 2018 in the Eastside Baptist Church in Marianna, Fl. with the Rev. Steve Canada and Pastor Bill Stephens officiating.  Family First Funeral Care of Dothan will be directing.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time in the church sanctuary.


Barbara was born September 25, 1934 in Key West, Fl. daughter of the late Edney Parker and Edna Pinder Parker.  A native of the Florida Keys (a Conch) and the youngest of 11 children her parents were a pioneer family of the Florida Keys.  She spent her early years in Islamorada and was a survivor of the historic 1935 (Labor Day Storm) hurricane.  She moved to Marianna in the early 1980’s from Deland, Fl, was a bookkeeper and a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church.  Barbara will be remembered as sweet, funny, made the best Key Lime Pie and many other great desserts.  She loved gospel music.  Ivan Parker, “The Lighthouse” and “Midnight Cry” were some of her favorites.  She leaves a legacy of faith, love, laughter and kindness.


She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, John W. Cooper of Marianna, 3 daughters Christol (Kevin) Lott of Blue Ridge, Ga. Valerie (Chuck) Schimmelman of Plantation Key, Fl. and Pamela (Tim) Bohnstedt of Tavernier, Fl. her son Dwayne (Rhonda) Cooper of Lehigh Acres, Fl. a brother Norman (Mary Jo) Parker of Inverness, Fl. 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren also survive.
