Betty Jean Phillips

Betty Jean Phillips, age 77 of Abbeville died Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church, in Headland, with Pastor Larry Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Family First Funeral Care directing. The family will receive friends from 10am until service time. Flowers are being accepted or contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2576 Montgomery Highway # 2, Dothan, AL 36303.

Mrs. Phillips was born March 25, 1941 in Louisville, AL to the late Hezakiah and Vera Creel Williams. She had lived in Abbeville, on the water at Lake Eufaula, for the past 12 years. Previously she had worked for Accountants, Inc. for over 20 years before venturing into other projects, at certain points owning a beauty shop and a small engine repair shop. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Headland. In her spare time, Mrs. Phillips enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Phillips of Abbeville; two sons, Arthur Manning Phillips and Tacoma Phillips, both of Abbeville; two grandchildren also survive, Sophie Harrison of Eufaula and Gabriel Harrison of Dothan.
