Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was called to join our Heavenly Father into eternal life on Sunday, August 26th.

Betty Jean Shealey, after 92 years of a full life, passed away peacefully.

Mrs. Shealey was born in Slocomb, Alabama on January 18, 1926.

Mrs. Shealey was a loving wife to Willie “Bill” Shealey until his death in 1991. She was employed at RAA Middle School for many years, serving the needs of many children. She later retired from the Leon County School Board, in Tallahassee, FL. She spent her life lovingly caring for her parents and anyone else in need.

She was a loving and caring mother, leaving behind her children, Julie Ann Glover (Neil), Larry Merryman, Robert Merryman, and Jeanne Worrell. She was predeceased by her loving parents Robert T. Jones and Mildred C. Jones, her baby sister Mary Sue, brothers Jerry Jones and Robert Jones, Jr. and her beloved son Richard “Dickie” Merryman.

Her grandchildren include Michael Smith, Angie Myers (Sheldon), Brent Merryman, Christopher Smoke and Keri McClellan (Chad). Her great-grandchildren include Jesse Smith, Hunter Myers, Mikaila and Trevor Smoke. She is also survived by other family members too numerous to list. “Bambi,” as she was affectionately known, was the matriarch of the family, always putting others before herself. She will be dearly missed and live in our hearts forever.

We take comfort in knowing that she is now with her beloved mother and father, and whole again with our Lord.

Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home, Midland City, Alabama (1700 Barrington Road), and will be held Friday, September 7th, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Malvern Baptist Church Cemetery.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements. Please call us or visit www.SunsetMemorialPark.com for more information.
