Betty Jo Maloy of Hartford passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016.  She was 81.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Bruce Spivey officiating.  Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 23, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Hartford Baptist Church, 105 E Burch St, Hartford, AL 36344.

Mrs. Maloy was born in Coffee Springs, AL on October 23, 1934, to the late Jefferson Davis Sconyers, Jr. who passed away before she was born and Pearl Smith Sconyers who died not long thereafter.  She was raised by M.Z. and Claudie Jones.  She was a former member of the Samson First Baptist Church and a longtime member of Hartford Baptist Church.  Mrs. Maloy was very active in her church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor H. Maloy; sister, Evelyn Jones Beck; brother, James Sconyers; and granddaughter, Amber Nicole Mock.

She is survived by her son, Lee Maloy (Paula) of Ft. Hood, TX; daughter, Nancy Maloy (Charles Bourgeois) of Crestview, FL; four grandchildren, Joshua Maloy of Killeen, TX, Brittany Howerton (Scotty) of Coffee Springs, Megan LeAnn Mock (Allen LaRue Chambers, II) of Svea. FL, and Heather Sierra Mock of Daleville; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, M.Z. Jones, Jr. (Betty Jo) of Chancellor and Charles E. Jones (Bobbie) of Enterprise; sister, Dorothy Kennedy of Winter Park, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
