OZARK. . .Betty Sullivan Hollis, a resident of Ozark, died early Saturday morning, July 9, 2016, in the Dale Medical Center in Ozark. She was 82.

            Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, July 11, 2016, in the Holman Funeral Home Chapel, Ozark, with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home in Ozark.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

            Mrs. Hollis was born and reared in Fayette County, Alabama, daughter of the late Buren Alexander Sullivan and Ruby Plyler Sullivan.  She graduated from the Fayette County High School at the age of fifteen.  Mrs. Hollis lived in DeLand, Florida, Birmingham and Hoover before moving to Ozark in 2003. She retired from Willis-Corroon & Black Insurance Company in Birmingham as the Chief Operating Officer after forty years employment. Mrs. Hollis was an avid supporter of the University of Alabama football team and a Roll Tide fan. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading history.

            Surviving relatives include her husband, Bill Hollis, Ozark; a sister-in-law, Pat Pearson (John), Ozark; a brother-in-law, Larry Hollis, Mt. Olive, AL; nieces and nephews, Janet Teague (Duke), Vickie Brown, Donna Hensley (Ted), Keith Hollis (Marnie), Brian Carr, Michael Prescott and Chuck Prescott; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be John Lynch, Michael Prescott, Duke Teague, Keith Hollis, John Pearson, Brian Carr and Chuck Prescott.
