Brenda Kay Whitehead, 63, a resident of Newton, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at her residence.


Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brenda Yon officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.


Mrs. Whitehead was born on December 24, 1952 in Florida and moved to Dale County in the 1970's and has lived in this area most of her life. She was a loving mother to 5 children and a friend to many, and loved to read, go fishing, gardening in her yard, crafting, and spending time at the lake and the beach.


Survivors include her very special friend, Carlton Weaver; her sons, Anthony Spann, Clay Spann, and Clint Ortagus; her daughters, Laura Olive and Tammy Brackin; her grandchildren, Blake Brackin, Marissa Ortagus, Aaron Ortagus, Aubree Nance, and McKinley Olive; her sister, Sonja Cope; a special friend, Eloise Elmore.
