Captain J. R. "Dick" Riley, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017. He was 62.


Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Johnson officiating.


Mr. Riley was born on December 12, 1954 in Dothan and lived the early years of his life in Milton, Florida before moving to Dothan in 1968. He resided in Mexico Beach where he owned and operated a fishing charter service called Miss Lilly Charter Fishing. Captain J. R. moved back to Dothan in 2009 and was employed with Houston County Airport Authority Fire Department. He was a people person and made knives to give to his friends.


Survivors include his mother, Bonny Riley; his aunt and uncle, Bobbie (Norman) Williams; his cousins, Tammie Dixon and Scott Williams; and his special friends, Burline Musick and Bob Wyatt.
