Carol Yarbrough Hammond of Geneva, AL passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016. She was 71.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Geneva with Rev. James “Red” Coleman and Rev. Jake Brady officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to, Geneva Lions Club.

Mrs. Hammond was born on February 6, 1945 in Geneva County, AL to the late Watson Henry and Carrie Boswell Yarbrough. Mrs. Hammond retired after 34 years of dedicating her life to education. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kim Hammond Grantham; one sister, Frances Yarbrough Gray.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Glen D. Hammond of Geneva, AL; one daughter, Julie Hammond Sconyers (Adam) of Geneva, AL; one son-in-law, Buddy Grantham (Belinda) of Ozark, AL; two sisters, Kitty Hickox (Carl) of Dothan, AL, Barbara Hicks (Larry) of Ozark, AL; eight grandchildren; and a number of special nieces and nephews.
