ABBEVILLE. . .Carolyn Scott Cutchen, a resident of the Englewood Subdivision on Lake Eufaula, died Saturday night, September 9, 2017, in a Dothan hospital. She was 73.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Don Adams officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Wendy McCoy, in Newville.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Screamer Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 489, Abbeville, AL 36310.


            Carolyn Cutchen was born in Columbia and was reared in Headland, daughter of the Calvin M. Scott and Omagene Whitehead Scott. She was a 1962 graduate of Headland High School. Carolyn lived many years in Newville before moving to Lake Eufaula in 1985. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland. Carolyn was formerly employed as a real estate agent for Lake Real Estate of Eufaula. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Cody Cutchen. Carolyn served as a Henry County Commissioner from 1994 until 1998 and was Henry County’s first elected female to serve as a commissioner. She was a member of the Peterman Creek Hunting Club and was an avid dog hunter and fisherman.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Wendy Cutchen McCoy (Mike), and a son, Chet Cutchen (Christine), all of Newville; two sisters, Glenda Moring (Ed), Cowarts; and Annette Shaver (Wade), Dothan; three brothers, Reginald Scott (Beth), Shorterville; Wesley Scott (Toni), Tallahassee; and Dwayne Scott (Jackie), Newville; four grandchildren, Justin McCoy (Jennifer), Jessica McCoy Blount (Kyle), Patrick Cutchen and Phillip Cutchen; a special friend, Earnie Hale of the Screamer Community. 


              Serving as active pallbearers will be Justin McCoy, Kyle Blount, Patrick Cutchen, Phillip Cutchen, David Barnes,and Michael Tate.
