Mr. Charles David Holmes of Geneva, Alabama passed away Friday, October 12, 2018.  He was 70.

 Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, with the Rev. Stacy Stafford officiating.  Burial will follow in Ponce de Leon City Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.  Flowers will be accepted.

 Mr. Holmes was born June 5, 1948 in Holmes County, Florida to the late Dewey Raymond and Frances Virginia Brooks Holmes.  He was an avid farmer known for truck farming, selling produce and peanuts at his roadside stand. He worked at Reliable Metal Products for a number of years. He was of the Baptist faith and a loving and devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Jacob Alexander Price and Chris Arnold; two brothers, Edgar and Eugene Holmes.

  Mr. Holmes is survived by one son and daughter- in- law; David Earl and Sheila Holmes of Dothan, AL,  three daughters and sons- in- law; Brenda and Mark Gainey of Hartford, AL, Patti and Mark Butler of Black, AL, and Sherry Frymire of DeFuniak Springs, FL., and mother of his children; Gwen Byrd of Black, AL., one sister and brother-in-law; Ouida and George Taylor of the Prosperity community, FL., 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
