Charles Ray Courson

Charles Courson age 93 of Headland died Monday morning June 25, 2018 at his residence after an extended illness and under the care of Kindred Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday June 27, 2018 in the Family First Funeral Care Chapel of the Angels with the Rev. Norman C. Simmons officiating.  Burial will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the Brooklyn Cemetery (805 County Road 426) Opp, Al.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice 2740 Headland, Ave. Dothan, Al 36303.

Mr. Courson was born in Opp, Al son of the late Cecil Ray Courson and Nettie Pearl Hoomes Courson.  He was raised in Opp and lived there until he moved to Birmingham, Al to start his job with U.S. Steel.  Later this job took him to Pittsburg, Pa and finally to Baytown, TX where he retired as a shift supervisor after a 30-year career.

Other than his parents Mr. Courson was preceded in death by a son Steve Courson, a grandson and 7 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons Mike (Nora) Courson of Biloxi, MS David Courson of Delray Beach, FL three daughters Elizabeth (Rick) Chance, Kathy (Kennith) Hester and Karen Courson all of Headland, a brother John Courson of Opp, Al and three sisters Betty Bryan of Montgomery, AL Billie Jo Tillery of Plant City, FL and Dottie Fleming of Kinston, AL a daughter in law Linda Courson of Opp, AL, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive.
