Mrs. Long was born in Henry County, September 7, 1923. She was a most wonderful, pleasant, thoughtful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had much love for her family and enjoyed doing kind things for them. It was her delight to prepare delicious meals for her family and to share her fresh coconut cake with family and friends. She graduated President of the 1942 class at Houston County High School in Columbia, Alabama. She always made sure that her class members knew the date and location of their class reunions plus she was a tremendous asset to the girls’ high school basketball team. Being of the “greatest generation” she prayed for Euell Long’s safety and protection as he was fighting in the Pacific for the U.S.A. to win World War II. When the war ended, Euell was honorably discharged with outstanding awards. Upon his return to Alabama, Euell and Christine were married January 21, 1946. She was a great wife- until his death-for forty-seven years. Christine loved her church. She has been an active participating member of the Webb Baptist Church for seventy-eight consecutive years. She also attended the Webb Senior Center.
