ASHFORD…David E. Williams, a resident of Ashford, died Friday morning, May 6, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. He was 85.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 9, 2016, in the Rocky Creek United Methodist Church, with Reverend Dean Moore officiating.  Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the church.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 3146 Creek Church Road, Ashford, Alabama 36312.

            Mr. Williams was born and reared near Columbia, son of the late Wiley Samuel Williams and Ora D. Stephenson Williams. He lived in Ashford since 1964. Mr. Williams was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, near Columbia and attended Rocky Creek United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Williams was retired from DynCorp at Ft. Rucker as an aircraft mechanic. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wylene Akin and Annie Mary Bair.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Inez Adams Williams, Ashford; one son, Densie Willliams (Kim), Dothan; one sister, Martha Trim, Lawton, OK; one brother, Joe E. Williams (Laverne), St. Petersburg, FL; two grandchildren, Bobby Tolar (Katherine) and Jennifer Williams; one great-granddaughter, Halle Ann Tolar; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the Adams family; nieces and nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Donald Hicks, Robert Wiggins, Lee Adams, Danny Bonner, Jeffrey Foster, and Emory Foster.
