David Gordon Livingston

HEADLAND. . .David Gordon Livingston, a resident of Headland, died Sunday night, December 10, 2017, in a Dothan hospital. He was 82.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 14, 2017, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Headland. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the mortuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Landmark Park, 430 Landmark Drive, Dothan, AL 36303 or to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.
            David Livingston was born in Headland and reared in Newville, son of the late Aaron Gordon (Jim) Livingston, Jr. and Annie Marian Haynes Livingston. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War era. David flew 168 missions in a B-52 Bomber and was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force with rank of Master Sergeant after twenty years service. After retirement from the military, he designed and built boats and fishing lures. David was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland. David was preceded in death by three sisters, Linda Levine, Ann Overall and Daphne Cunningham.

            Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-one years,  Peggy Hodges Livingston; two daughters, Leigh Hoskins (Doug), Huntsville, AL; and Lori O’Donnell (Danny), Tallahassee, FL; four grandchildren, Livy Hoskins, Blaine Hoskins, Graham O’Donnell and Gordon O’Donnell; a sister in law, Sue Crockett, Dothan.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be John Ross Helms, Doug Hoskins, Danny O’Donnell, Carl T. Jones, Graham O’Donnell and Cliff Joyner.
