Debra Jean Peel of 350 Joan Circle, Webb Alabama passed away Friday June 16, 2017.

Debra was born in Texas, but lived most of her adult life in Houston County, Alabama. She worked for GTE as an operator for many years. She also worked at the Liberty Store in Webb. She was fondly referred to as "Mama Bear", and that’s why she has so many cubs. She enjoyed her flowers and many coloring books. She enjoyed going to the flea market for her Saturday outings and adored her many animals. Alabama football was one of her favorite past times, with the Iron Bowl being her favorite. She always enjoyed a long rainy day.

She is preceded in death by her father Bernard Quay Peel, her mother Elizabeth Joan Peel, and her sister Barbara Peel Coker.

Survivors include her only son, James Quay Peel of Webb, AL; a special cousin Sonja Priest of Rehobeth, AL; a very special friend, Karen Dixon, of Columbia, AL, and her many cubs, as she lovingly called them. Her cubs are listed as follows: Dillon and Candi Royal, Benjamin Mills, Brandon (Tay) McCarter, Jennifer Vega, Leah Bradley, Jenny B., J.D. Hicks, Buddy Haas, Matt Holt, Simon Davis, and many more throughout the years.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements. Please call us or visit www.SunsetMemorialPark.com for more information.
