HEADLAND. .  . Dennis Ray Carpenter, a resident of Headland, died Tuesday evening, May 2, 2017, at his home. He was 64.


            Memorial services will be held at a later date in Abilene, Texas. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of the arrangements.


            Mr. Carpenter was born and reared in Abilene, Texas and moved to Headland in 1995. He served his country in the United States Air Force in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Mr. Carpenter retired, due to disability, from Local Union 52 in Montgomery as a Pipefitter. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Masonic Order in Dothan. Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda, and a brother Jody Carpenter.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Marie Fulgham Carpenter; two daughters, Britney Murphy (Brian) and Brandi Garcia (Sammy), all of Roby, TX; a son, Neilson Ray Carpenter (Stephanie), Rehobeth, AL; two step-children, Kimberly Webster (John), Bethlehem, GA; and John David Vines, Waldorf, MD; his father, Jack Dennis Carpenter, Abilene, TX; a brother, Mike Carpenter, Abilene, TX; nine grandchildren, Alan Vines, whom he raised; and Alexis Garcia, Ashton Garcia, Katelyn Spencer, Logan Spencer, Mason Spencer, Blacelyn Murphy, Pressley Gant; two great-grandchildren, Landon Jenkins and Leithen Vines; the mother of his children, Patricia Luevano, Sweetwater, TX.
