In the early hours on Sunday morning February 18, 2018, Mr. Dixon Ard, age 85, of Coffee Springs was called home.


Dixon was born on Thursday November 24, 1932 in Coffee County, AL the 5th of 6 children to James Dixon and Mary Dannelly Ard.


He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Cothell, Othell, and Mixon Ard, two sisters Rencie Morey and Quincy Gentry and his loving wife of 32 years Carolyn Broxton Ard.


Dixon is survived by one daughter, Nancy Sheffield and her husband Wayne of Covington, Georgia, three sons: Ricky Ard of Coffee Springs, AL, Robert Ard and his wife Melissa of Dothan, AL, and Danny Ard and his wife Regina of Level Plains, AL and one special daughter-in-law Jan Spicer Coon of Elba, AL.


He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Shane Sheffield and wife Tamara, Stacey Sheffield and wife Kerri, Justin Sheffield and wife Meredith, Jason Ard, Kimberly Ard, Gyla Herring and husband Lee, Nicole Ellis and husband Bruce, Joshua Ard, Tarra Ard and Ryan Ard.


Mr. Ard’s legacy lives on in the lives of his 12 Great-grandchildren – Rees, Loren, Nora, Joel, Lia, Nathan, Shelby, Washington, Juan David, Harold and Jefferson Sheffield and Xylon Ellis.
