Don Murray Parmer, 81, of Ashford, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Southeast Health.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Bluff Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Shirah, Rev. Coley Holloway and Rev. Dennis Singletary officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bluff Springs Baptist Church, 1990 Bluff Springs Road, Ashford, AL 36312 in Mr. Parmer’s memory.

Mr. Parmer was born on August 24, 1937 in Houston County to Comer and Mary Jim Parmer. He lived all of his life in Ashford and was a 1955 graduate of Ashford High. He spent his entire working career as a farmer and was a 30-year member of the Board of Directors for Ashford Farmers Co-Op where he served as president for the past 5 years. Mr. Parmer enjoyed music, hunting and cooking. He served as a music minister to many area churches for 40 years and was a lifetime member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by a brother, Lamar Parmer.

Survivors include his wife, Janice T. Parmer of Ashford; three children, Chip Parmer (Mendy), Cindy Robison (J.D.) and Cristie Parmer, all of Ashford; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Sandra Parmer; several nieces, nephews and cousins including a special niece, Stacy Parmer, all of Ashford.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class of Bluff Springs Baptist Church.
