Donnie Adams

Donnie Adams, age 64 of Dothan passed away early Tuesday morning, April 3, 2018 at his residence under the care of Kindred Hospice, surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Donnie will be held at 2pm Friday, April 6, 2018, at Family First Funeral Care Chapel of the Angels at Woodland, with Reverend Don Clark officiating and burial following in the Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2346 W. Main St., Suite 3, Dothan, AL 36301.

Donnie was born October 18, 1953 in Donalsonville, Georgia to the late Odell and Elsie Ray Phillips Adams. He lived his entire life in Dothan, where he worked for Farley Nuclear Plant for eight years and retired from the City of Dothan, Water Department after 17 years of service. He was a long-time member of Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, especially at Barbour Creek on Lake Eufaula. A NASCAR fan and avid fan of #88, Dale, Jr. and watching TV, especially Walker, Texas Ranger and other old re-runs. Out of everything in life, nothing mattered to Donnie more than his loving wife, Rene, and spending time with her, his beautiful daughter, Kelli and his family.

Survivors include his wonderful wife of 47 years, Irene Adams; his daughter, Kelli Adams, four brothers, Charles (Evie) Adams, Ronnie Adams, Steve (Renee)  Adams and Michael (Angie) Adams, all of Dothan; his sister, Caroline Cook, Rehobeth; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive, including a very special nephew, TJ Calhoun and special family friends, Frog (Stan) Michel, Doug Thomas and a special canine companion, Joey.
