MIDLAND CITY. . .Dora Mae Howell Eggers Peacock Sheffield, a resident of Dale County, between Midland City and Echo, died Tuesday morning, December 26, 2017.  She was 95.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Shiloh Baptist Church, Hartford, with Reverend Tim Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday in the church sanctuary.


            Mrs. Sheffield was born and raised in the Oak Grove Community, near Hartford, daughter of the late Alpha Anew Howell and Tammie Mosley Howell. She lived near Hartford most of her lifetime before moving to Dale County, near Echo, in 1977. Mrs. Sheffield was retired from the Southeast Alabama Medical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of the Mt. Enon Baptist Church, near Midland City, and was a former member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Hartford. Mrs. Sheffield was preceded in death by her husbands, Oliver A. Eggers, Truett J. Peacock and Comer Sheffield, a son, Orlin Eggers, two daughters, Phyllis P. Johnson and Barbara P. Weller, three sisters, and five brothers.


            Surviving relatives include three daughters, Sharon Standley (David Munyon), Midland City; Patsy Barron (Alvah), Birmingham; and Tammy Peacock, Nellysford, VA;  two sons, Marshall Peacock, Panama City Beach, FL; and Steve Peacock (Vaughn Oswald), Montgomery; a son-in-law, Jeff Weller, Orange City, FL;  seven grandchildren, Jeff Eggers, Craig Eggers, Mark Eggers, Keith Lewis, Colby Lewis, Susan Matos and Miranda Mink; eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.


             In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Enon Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Charles Stevens, 3478 County Road 67, Midland City, AL 36350 or to the Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund, 873 North Shiloh Road, Hartford, AL 36344.
