Dorothy Louise Meacham Smith of Hartford, AL passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 82.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Carmel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jerry Moore and Rev. Jonathan West officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.  

Mrs. Smith was born in Baker, FL on June 28, 1934 to the late Robert Thomas and Reba Louise Cook Meacham. Mrs. Dorothy, who was affectionately known as “Miss Dot’” loved arranging silk flowers for decorating, watching Gaithers homecoming videos  and collecting dolls. Carmel Assembly of God Church was blessed to have had her as a member of their church family for many years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Dewey Meacham.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Johnnie E. Smith of Hartford, AL; four daughters, Diana Smith (Louis) of Mansfield, TX, Sharon McKinnis (Rick) of Orlando, FL, Marcia Williams (Robert) of West Monroe, LA, and Tracy Smith of Hartford, AL; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nell Wetherington of Ft. Meade, FL; two brothers, Jerry Meacham (Mary) of Dothan, AL, and Rick Meacham (Frances) of Frostproof, FL; sister-in-law, Faye Meacham of Bartow, FL; and a number of special nieces and nephews.
