COLUMBIA. . .Dorothy Scott “Dot” Culbreth, a resident of Columbia, died Wednesday morning, March 27, 2019, at her home. She was 82.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 30, 2019, in the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Dr. Nash Wills and Reverend Don Tew officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church “Bus Fund”, 3894 Ebenezer Road, Columbia, AL. 36319.

     Mrs. Culbreth was born in New Braunfels, Texas and was reared in San Antonio, Texas, daughter of the late Carlie W. Scott and Mattie Lee Chambless Scott. She lived in Memphis, Tennessee from 1957 until 1990 when she moved to the Ebenezer Community, near Columbia. Mrs. Culbreth was formerly employed by the Culbreth Insurance Agency in Dothan. She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Mrs. Culbreth was preceded in death by her husband, H. M. Culbreth, a son-in-law, Russ Byrns, a brother, Carlie Scott and two sisters, Ida Mae Davis and Marjorie Stange, and her parents, Carlie W. Scott and Mattie Lee Chambless Scott.  

     Surviving relatives include two daughters, Cindy Whitney (Jeff), Memphis, TN; and Lisa Byrns, Los Angeles, CA; a son, Michael Culbreth (Lynette), Nashville, TN; two sisters, Martha Trigg, San Antonio, TX; and Jane Pehl (Mike), Dallas, TX; three brothers, Bud Scott (Karen), Las Vegas, N.M.; Bob Scott (Sue), San Antonio, TX and Rick Scott (Delores), New Braunfels, TX; a sister-in-law who has cared for her, Joyce Culbreth; six grandchildren, Heather Bradley (Ryan), Megan Culbreth, Tyler Whitney (Sydney), Michael Culbreth, Jr (Lindsey), Conner Whitney and Brenner Whitney; six great-grandchildren.
