Dr. Roger Warren Hall of Enterprise, Alabama, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Flowers Hospital, in Dothan, Alabama.



 



Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise, AL; and 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017, at First Baptist Midlothian in Dallas, TX. Burial will follow at a later date, in the National Cemetery in Springfield, MO.



 



Roger was born October 9, 1943, to the late Ralph and Nadine Young Hall, in Dallas County, Missouri. He was a graduate of Central High School and Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He later was awarded honorary doctorate degrees from Dallas Baptist University and Southwest Baptist University.



 



Roger married Donna Johnson in April 1965. Upon completion of his accounting degree, Roger entered the United State Army, where he eventually attained the rank of captain. In 1966, they moved to his first duty station at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Later he attended jump school at Ft. Benning, Georgia; then was stationed at a Nike missile site near Waconia, Minnesota; next he became a part of the Army Security Agency located at Ft. Devons, Massachusetts. In 1968, Roger served in Vietnam in logistics and military intelligence. Eight months of his service was at Chu Lai where he commanded a company of 220 men and briefed a two-star general twice a day on troop movement. He came home to complete his military service at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. In March 1970, he was honorably discharged from the army and moved to Joplin, Missouri, to begin his career as a certified public accountant. He continued to serve as a CPA in Missouri and Texas for over 50 years.



 



Roger was called to the gospel ministry and moved to Kansas City, Missouri, to attend Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in August 1972. Roger graduated Suma Cum Laude with his Master of Divinity degree and was ranked first in his class. Throughout the remainder of his life, Roger served Baptist churches, colleges, institutions, and state conventions. He served as the Treasure of the Missouri Baptist Convention; the Vice President of Financial Affairs at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; Assistant Professor of Business and later the Vice President of Development of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri; and the Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer of the Baptist General Convention of Texas for almost twenty years. After retiring from full-time employment, Roger continued to serve in administrative positions at Dallas Baptist University; Cowboy Church of Ellis County; and First Baptist Church, Waxahachie, Texas. He also served on the board of directors for many organizations including the Baptist Standard, Mission Arlington, Mission Midlothian, Baptist Credit Union, Texas Baptist Men, WMU of Texas, Minnesota/Wisconsin Baptist Foundation, Texas Fellowship of Cowboy Churches, World Connect, Inmates Discipleship Fellowship, and Healthcare Outreach Network.



 



Roger was always an active layperson in his local church. He was an ordained deacon and held the position of church treasurer for many years. As an ordained minister, he was honored to frequently serve in the capacity of interim/supply preaching for over 42 years.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Hall of Enterprise; two daughters: Tracy Lyn Hall-Ross of Springfield, MO, and Leslie Diane Mynatt of Enterprise; son-in-law, Michael Mynatt, whom he loved as his own son; brother, John Hall of Rolla, MO; sister, Sue Snodgrass of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren: Tucker and Molly Ross, and Haley and Lauren Mynatt; several nieces and nephews.
