Eddie Lee “Pop” Hudspeth was born August 27th, 1936 to the late Eddie and Elouise Hudspeth.


Funeral services will be held 1pm Thursday April 11, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Freddie Shells, of Daytona Beach, Florida officiating. Graveside services will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12noon until 1pm Thursday.


Eddie departed this life and went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 6, 2019. He was known by his children and grandchildren as “Pop”. He was known as “Bubba” by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Charles Hudspeth, and two sisters, Verdell and Blondell Hudspeth.


Eddie is survived by a loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Alice Mae Hudspeth. They were united in Holy matrimony in 1956. To this union, six children were born. Shirley Jean Granger (Herman), of Dothan, AL, Freddie Jean Miller of Webb, AL, Gregory Earl Hudspeth (Janet), of Webb, AL, Phyllis Dawsey (Todd), of Dothan, AL, Tonjula Pittman of Dothan, AL, Michelle Cogman (Anthony) of Dothan, AL.


He is also survived by two sisters, Willie Dell Stewart of Houston, TX and Ruby Nell Knight of Headland, AL; one brother R.B. Hudspeth (Futcher) of Headland, AL; and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law Minister Freddie and Betty Shells of Daytona Beach, FL. Together they have 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews, relatives, and friends.


Eddie was very dedicated to his work life. His work ethic and reputation spoke for itself. He had a real passion for fishing and working outdoors. The upkeep of his property was a joy of his. He was the caretaker over all of the properties he owned. He served as the family patriarch as well as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
