Ellen Harris, 75, passed away on March 1, 2019 in Dothan. She was born on March 19, 1943 in Houston County to the late William Berry Griffin and Vera Mae Griffin (Ponder).

Services to be at 12 Noon Monday March 4, 2019 in the Chapel at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Dowdey to present the celebration of her life. Visitation to be one hour prior service and burial to follow at Memory Hill Cemetery.

Ellen was a devoted and loving wife to Ed Harris whom she has greatly missed but is now reunited with. She was very active in the lives of and dearly loved their two sons — Eddie (Michele) and Eric Harris, but her true pride and joy came when she became Nana to her three grandkids Hunter, Jackson and Kristen (Zachary) as well as great grandson Rhett. She loved nothing more than being at the ballpark, bowling center or gymnasium cheering them on. Ellen lived her entire life here in Dothan, Alabama and was a proud graduate and supporter of Dothan High School.

Being the youngest of 12 children, Ellen is preceded in death by many, but most recently her brother Coven Shivers and sister Elizabeth (Liz) Baker. Surviving is her sister Bea (Bobby) Davis, their son Barry (Wendy) and their kids Peyton & Parker, daughter Bethany (David) and their son Davis, her sister in law Virginia Shivers and their daughter Melanie (Scott) and their kids Madi & Tyler. She loved and cherished her nieces and nephews as well as her Harris family.

Ellen also leaves behind long time and dear friend Renda Houston and her daughters Darlene & Teresa whom Ellen was honored to be her God Mother. Special friends and former co-workers Catherine and Carla. She touched many lives and she will bé greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank all of those that have prayed for and supported us during this difficult time. Special thanks to Bethany, you went above & beyond to make sure your Aunt Ellen had the best care and we will be forever grateful. Thank you to the staff at Extendicare for loving & taking care of our Mother as well as Southern Care, Kindred Hospice, and the 3 rd Floor Staff at the Medical Center. Flowers are welcome or you may honor her with a donation to the American Cancer Society.
