TUMBLETON COMMUNITY. .  .Ellie Mae Sanders Shelley, a resident of the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at her home. She was 90.

            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 18, 2017, in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. in the New Zion Baptist Church.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church c/o David Teat, 10033 County Road 47, Shorterville, Alabama 36373.

            Mrs. Shelley was born and reared near Newville and lived in the Tumbleton Community all her adult life. She retired as a Personnel Secretary from WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville. Mrs. Shelley was a member of the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Hasten Sanders, her mother, Emma Smith Sanders, her step-mother, Willie Doswell Sanders, and two sisters, Edna Walker, and Lillian Griffin.

            Surviving relatives include two sons, John W. (Johnny) Shelley, Jr, Tumbleton Community, and Roy Shelley (Gayle), Headland; three sisters, Mary Chancey, Lynn Haven, FL, Janelle Shelley, Tumbleton Community, and Suzanne Linn (Albert), Lynchburg, VA; a brother, Stanley Sanders (Bennie), Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Clint Shelley (Amanda), Jada Danyeur (Tommy), and Carla Shelley; two great-grandchildren, Colby Shelley and Reagan Shelley.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Russell Killingsworth, Kirby Shelley, Kenneth Shelley, Clint Shelley, Estus Walker, and Kim Shelley.
