Ellis E. Parker, Jr., age 85, a resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019.


Funeral services will be held 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2019 at Glover Funeral Chapel with Denise Peters officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 4:45 p.m. on Monday prior to service time.


Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Forest Meadows Memorial Park East in Gainesville, Florida with Glover Funeral Home directing.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Haifa Home to support victims of the holocaust or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.


Mr. Parker was born July 20, 1933 in Gainesville, Florida to Ellis Earl and Jessie Cannon Parker. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School and later attended Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville. He owned and operated Parker Appliance Sales and Service for several years. He also enjoyed woodworking and used his talents to support the Haifa Home in Israel to support victims of the holocaust. Mr. Parker pastored churches in southwest Georgia, Florida and Alabama for over 45 years and served as area director of child evangelism for several years. He had a strong passion for the study of the word about end time prophecy and was devoted to its research. He attended The Living Church of God.


He is predeceased by his parents.


He is survived by his wife of 65 years, JoAnn Parker of Dothan; three children, Phyllis Wheelus (Eddie) of Kathleen, GA, David Ellis Parker (Joy) of Dothan, AL and Sarah Schnable (Ricky) of Bonaire, GA; seven grandchildren, Chris Gillen, Christopher E. Ellsworth, Jane Crowe, Amanda Causey, Alexis Pattison, Joni Tucker and Savannah Martin; ten great-grandchildren;  two sisters, Sue James (Harold) and Joan Stringfellow, all of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews.
