ELVIN  EARL  BOND



HEADLAND. . .Elvin Earl Bond, a resident of the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, died Monday afternoon, June 4, 2018, in a Dothan hospital. He was 88.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 9, 2018, in the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Clayton Nowell and Elder J. C. Stanaland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 401, Headland, AL 36345.


            Mr. Bond was born and reared in the Tumbleton Community, son of the late Early Walker Bond and Essie Messer Bond. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War era. Mr. Bond was an active member of the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He retired from the Sony Corporation in Dothan. In earlier years, Mr. Bond was employed by WestPoint Stevens and Twitchell Industries. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon Bond.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-three years,  Deloris Reeves Bond; a daughter, Nancy Nowell (Elder Clayton Nowell), all of Tumbleton; a brother, Rufus Bond (Ruth), Mt. Olive, AL; a sister-in-law, Jemima Bond, Tumbleton; three grandsons, Timothy Nowell, Kenneth Nowell (Sara), and Jonathan Nowell; four great-grandchildren, Dakota Nowell, Peter Nowell, Andrew Nowell and Kendra Nowell.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Jerry Snellgrove, Birdie Bond, Bruce Bond, Timothy Nowell, Kenneth Nowell and Jonathan Nowell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be employees of Encompass Home Health & Hospice.
