Emery Boyd Chase “Poppy”, of Daleville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 6, 2018 at his home surrounded by his wife and family.  He was 93.


 


Private funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Daleville First United Methodist Church with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise and with Rev. Lee Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing.  The family will have closed visitation at the church Tuesday beginning at 1:30 and continuing until service time.


 


Flowers will be accepted at the church.


 


“Poppy” attended church as a youth with his grandfather Emery B Chase “Pappy” for many years.  “Pappy” was a descendant of Samuel Chase an original signer of the Declaration of Independence.


 


He and his wife Gloria were residents of the “Sunshine State” of  Florida from 1961 until 2013.


 


He served in the Navy and was a WWII Veteran; tours included the Pacific Theater-Pearl Harbor, Aleutian Islands of Alaska, and in China.


 


Mr. Chase was born August 6, 1924, in Stone, Kentucky, to the late Carter Dow and Ethel Arthur Chase. 


 


He was preceded in death by his brother: Arthur Lee Chase.


 


Survivors include his wife of almost 73 years, Gloria Chapman Chase; One sister: Sandra Chase Dotson of Kentucky; Two wonderful daughters: Brenda Sue Chase “Blais” and Katherine Chase McIntosh (Randall) all from Daleville, Alabama; 4 grandchildren: Mike Phillip Blaze, Sara-Kate Channels, Chase McIntosh and Stormi Brook Henry; 7 great-grandchildren: Emily, Will, Abby, Olivia, Emeri, Zeb IV and Jameson.


 


“Poppy” was also blessed by numerous nieces and nephews.
