Emmett Lewis McKnight, a resident of Headland, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. He was 77.


Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Barnes and Rev. Denver Sasser officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Vivian B. Adams Encore Program, 2047 Stewart Tarter Rd., Ozark, AL 36360.


Mr. McKnight was born on November 26, 1940 in Dale County, the son of Howell and Bertie Mae McKnight, and lived the early years of his life in Newton.


Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Judy Phillips McKnight; his two daughters, Michelle McKnight Windham and Melinda (Andy) Hodge; his two grandsons, Rob (Brittany) Windham and Andrew Hodge; his two granddaughters, Jill Windham Tyre and Miranda Windham; one great-granddaughter, Eva Marie Windham; his two brothers, Donald (Mary) McKnight and Dennis (Carol) McKnight; his sister, Joette (Bob) Bankston; two sisters-in-law, Katy Benton and Annette McKnight; several nieces and nephews.
