CUSSETA, GEORGIA…Evelyn Thorne Spence, a resident of Cusseta, Georgia, died Wednesday evening, September 26, 2018, in a Columbus hospital. She was 75.

     Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. (EDT) Saturday, September 29, 2018, in the Blakely Cemetery with Minister Ewell Pritchett officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Spence was born and reared in Columbia, Alabama, daughter of the late John Wesley Thorne, Sr. and Ammie Canara Brown Thorne. She was formerly employed by Columbus Mills as a weaver and was a member of the Buena Vista Church of Christ. Mrs. Spence was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Buford Spence; two sons, Danny Ray Spence and Bobby Buford Spence; a sister and a brother.

     Surviving relatives include her son, Robert D. Spence, Cusseta, GA; a sister, Bobbie Jackson (Don), Bakersville, NC; a brother, John Wesley Thorne, Jr. (Dale), Phenix City; a grandson, Nathaniel Spence; three nieces, Denise Jackson, Felicia Sanchez and Marisa Collier; and a nephew, Dewayne Thorne.
