Gladys P. Horchen, 90, a resident of Newton, died peacefully Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at her home.


A Memorial Mass will be held 12 noon Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Fred Boni and Deacon John Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P O Box 1170, Dothan, AL, 36302.


Mrs. Horchen was born  March 20, 1926 in Newton, Alabama and lived the early years of her life there. In 1950, she was married to Charles A. Horchen and moved to St. Mary’s Pennsylvania where she lived for almost 20 years. In 1969, she moved to Montgomery, AL for several years before moving back home to Newton where she lived the remainder of her life. Mrs. Horchen was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.


Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Charles A. Horchen of Newton; two sons, Jerome Beasley (Joyce) of Dallas, TX and John Horchen (Kimberly) of Wicksburg; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Gillette Payne of Dothan; many loving nieces and nephews also survive.
