Gordon “Yank” Hagerla, of Enterprise, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at his home.  He was 82.


 


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at The Grace Place Church with Pastor Calvin Malone and Tra Carter officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the church Thursday beginning at 10:00 and continuing until service time.


 


Mr. Hagerla was born May 27, 1935, in Iowa, to the late Melbourne and Cora Johnson Hagerla.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Ft. Rucker as an aircraft inspector.  “Yank” was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He loved the Lord, and was a prior member of Hillcrest Baptist Church before transferring his membership to The Grace Place.


 


He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Hagerla; and two brothers: Robert and Hubert Hagerla.


 


Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Hagerla of Enterprise; eight children: David Hagerla (Steve) of Orcas, WA, Melissa Carter (Thomas) of Auburn, AL, Julie Wright (Thomas) of Jacksonville, FL, Randall Hagerla (Janet) of Birmingham, AL, Connie Walker (Chuck) of Hartford, AL, Kenneth Tindell (Stephanie) of Slocomb, AL, Carl Tindell of Enterprise, AL, and Michelle Culp (Donnie) of Headland, AL; brother, Larry Hagerla (Mary) of Des Moines, IA; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.
