HAL ESPY CUNNINGHAM


HEADLAND….Hal Espy Cunningham, a resident of Headland, died Tuesday morning, November 28, 2017 at the home of his son in Headland. He was 82.


            Surviving relatives include his children, Clint Cunningham (Darlene), Headland and Wendy Cunningham Long (James), Ellerslie, GA; three grandchildren, Bryce Cunningham, Seth Cunningham, and Ashley Long; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Cunningham (Harriet), Headland; numerous nieces and nephews.


            Mr. Cunningham, son of the late Clarence Cunningham and Lois Rebecca Ziglar Cunningham, was a lifelong resident of Headland and a 1953 Graduate of Headland High School where he served as Class President.  He served in the United States Army and the Army National Guard and was of the Baptist faith.  Mr. Cunningham was engaged in farming most of his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty four years, Grace Gaines Cunningham and a sister, Jane Yeager.


            A private service will be held. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Salvation Army, 1007 South Bell St., Dothan, AL 36301.
