Howard Clayton “Matt” Dillon of Kinston passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at his home. He was 80 years old.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Chaplain Lisa Eller officiating. Military Honors will immediately follow the service.

The family request that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to Southern Care Hospice.

Mr. Dillon was born on August 27, 1937 to the late Clayton Clemmons and Edna Gertrude Comer Dillon. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. Matt was a very social and outgoing person, he enjoyed talking to everyone and never met a stranger. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheri Catheleen Dillon; two sisters, Lois Hafner, and Vivian Thompson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Cathy Dillon of Kinston; one son Carl Dillon (Sheila) of Samson; four grandchildren, Amanda Hughes (Damon) of Chancellor, Tanya Bales of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Krystal Mock of Orlando, FL, and Clayton Dansby of Ormond Beach, FL; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Willard Dillon (Patty) of Edgewater, FL; two brothers-in-law, J.R. Hafner of Samsula, FL, and Jimmie Thompson of Ormond Beach, FL.
