CONYERS, GEORGIA. . .Howard Jones White, a resident of Conyers, Georgia, a native of Shorterville, Alabama, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in the Piedmont Rockdale Hospital in Conyers. He was 77.

            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. (C.S.T.) Saturday, February 10, 2018, in the Shorterville Baptist Church with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

            Mr. White was a native of Alabama and was reared in Shorterville and Columbus, Georgia, son of the late Willie Howard White and Gladys Jones White. He was a graduate of Jordan High School in Columbus. At an early age, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and served twelve years during the Vietnam War era. After serving in the military, he attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham and a received a degree as a Physician Assistant. He was formerly employed as a PA in Atmore, Alabama and Milton, Florida. Mr. White formerly owned and operated Mid Lake Bait & Tackle on White Oak Creek. In later years, he performed medical examinations for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Mr. White was an avid Alabama football fan. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Jones.

            Surviving relatives include three daughters, Kathy Fullerton (Chuck), Milton, FL; Cindy Buckinger (Chuck), Lexington, NC; and Janet Whitson (Mike), Palm Bay, FL; a sister, Veda Smith, Panama City Beach, FL; a brother, Ricky White (Debbie), Alexander City, AL; a very special brother-in-law, Tommy Jones, Conyers, GA; five grandchildren, Ryan, Chad, Adam, Jason and Whitney; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
