Hubert Emanuel "Hugh" Hagan, 82, a resident of Dothan passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his residence.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Highland Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Clint McBroom officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Wiregrass Food Bank, 382 Twitchell Rd., Dothan, AL, 36303 or to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1619 S. Park Ave., Dothan, AL, 36301.


Mr. Hagan was born September 4, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio and spent the early part of his life there. He graduated from Jefferson Township High School in Dayton then graduated from the GM Institute in Flint, MI with a BS degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for a few years with General Motors prior to starting his career with Globe Motors. He came to Dothan in 1973 and with 2 partners they started Globe Motors, Dothan where he worked for 42 years until his retirement in 2001.


Mr. Hagan was an active volunteer with the Wiregrass Food Bank for several years. He was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church where he was part of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the National United Methodist Men's Club. He was also a member of the local Elk's Lodge.


Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Zanatta Hagan of Dothan; sister, Lois Renfrow of Dayton, OH; nephews, Chris (Jeanie) Renfrow of Tampa, FL, Kim (Cindy) Renfrow of Dayton, OH, Brian (Kim) Renfrow of Dayton, OH, Sean (Ginny) Renfrow of Daphne, AL, Mark (Samantha) Miller of Mt. Sterling, KY, Kevin (Megan) Duvall of Jacksonville, FL and Keith Duvall of Jacksonville, FL; nieces, Nita Renfrow of Mason, OH, Renee Corey of Spring Hill, FL, Shena Amburgey of Mt. Sterling, KY, Melina (Allie) Webb of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Erica Miller of Mt. Sterling, KY; sisters-in-law, Jennifer (Edwin) Clark of Pensacola, FL, and Janice Miller of Mt. Sterling, KY; several cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces.


Mr. Hagan was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Emanuel Hagan and Edith Urshal Hagan; a nephew, Ray Renfrow.


Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Renfrow, Kim Renfrow, Brian Renfrow, Sean Renfrow, Edwin Clark, Jerry Cobb, and Ed Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Johnson, Jr. Kelley, Russell Poole, Bob Smith and Rick Smith.


The family would like to express a special thanks to all of the staff of Gentiva Hospice, especially Christy, Shantiffany, Diane, Kendra, Geraldine, and Keri. Also thanks to Father Patrick Gallagher of St. Columba Catholic Church, and all of our friends for sticking with us throughout this long journey with comfort, care and deeds especially Ed & Debbie, Myra & Jerry, and Bruce & Sherry.
