Iris Elizabeth Cleapor Booth, 92, of Echo, Alabama went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2018, while surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Living Waters Church, Hwy. 27, Echo, AL.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Headland, AL.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 P.M. Saturday, March 31, 2018, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Living Waters Church, 12962 East Highway 27, Newville, AL. 36353 or to Hospice Care Options, 163 Roberson Mill Road, Milledgeville, GA  31061.

Iris was born on June 26, 1925 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Richard Frederick Cleapor and Vivian Davis Cleapor.

She grew up in Atlanta but resided most of her latter years in Echo, Alabama. During her 92 years of life, she called a few places home including Lithia Springs, Conyers, Americus and Eatonton, GA.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents; 3 siblings, CoraMae Locke, Carol Bishop and Richard Cleapor; loving husband, Ralph Justice Booth, Sr.; daughters, Gloria Ruth Booth and Mary Elizabeth Allmon; granddaughter, Regina Charlene Walden George; and great-grandson, Kenneth Charles Ryan Gosse.

Her devotion to her faith was evident in her everyday life. She was one of the original founders of Living Waters Church in Echo, AL, where she was also an ordained minister.

She had a generous heart and would always put others before herself. Her giving of care, kindness and love for her family was apparent to anyone. She referred to her children and grandchildren as Oliveplants around her table in reference to Psalms 128:3.

Among their many special memories: hearing their names called out in prayer while kneeling at her bedside. They could always count on receiving a birthday card complete with a Bible verse and signed, “I love you a bushel and a peck.” No need to remember names, They were all “Shugha-Pie.”

Her dinner table was the setting for many family home cooked meals as well as loud chatter over games such as Scrabble.

She will be remembered for her quite, gentle strength and steady spirit. Her kindness and care-giving also extended to the needy, elderly, troubled youths and people of special needs.

She served our country as Rosie the Riveter in WWII, welding and repairing aircraft.

She will continue to live on in our hearts and memories, while she walks peacefully in Heaven with Jesus and her loved ones who crossed over before her.

 Iris is survived by her daughters: Geraldine Walden (John), Jeanette Trawick (Jimmy), Shirley Fordam, Becky Silberg (Dennis), Annie Heinzmann (David Rich), son Ralph Booth Jr. (Pansie), son-in-law, Alan Allmon, 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandson.
