James A. “Jim” McLeod


James A. “Jim” McLeod, of Dothan, passed away, Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 at Wesley Manor. He was 84.


Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Slocomb City Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.


Jim was born January 8, 1932 in Geneva County, Alabama. The early years of Jim’s life were spent attending public schools in Houston County and working on the family farm. He honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. Upon discharge from the Air Force he attended Auburn University on the G.I. bill graduating in electrical engineering. Jim was employed for several years with General Electric Corporation in Utica, New York, several years with Collins Radio in Dallas, Texas and then moved to San Jose, California where he lived for about thirty years. Jim enjoyed reading, running, bicycling, playing guitar and working on handy-man projects.


Mr. McLeod is predeceased by his parents, James (Gus) McLeod and Lucy Anice McLeod; brothers, Jamie Zell,  Jack Solomon and Joe Foster;  sisters, Dorothy Helen, Audrey Annell and Doris Elizabeth; a sister-in-law, Beverly McLeod; two brothers-in-law, William “Bill” Arnold and Tom Davis.


He is survived by two sisters, June (J.C.) Lewis and Janie Arnold, both of Dothan; a brother, David McLeod of Dothan; several nieces and  nephews.
