James Allen "A.J." Thompson, Jr., a resident of Slocomb, passed away October 31, 2016 at a local hospital. He was 31.


Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday, November 4, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.


A.J. was born on June 4, 1985 in Dothan and lived the early part of his life in Headland. He later lived in Cairo, GA until returning to Dothan in 2006. A.J. loved his work and was the store manager for Midas for the past few years. His hobbies include riding motorcycles and working on cars, big machinery and he loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, James "Hank" Thompson, and his grandparents, Bobby Forrester, Allen Thompson and Nadine Thompson.


Survivors include his son, Jay Thompson; his mother, Lisa (Donald) James; his sister, Hanna (Marc) Dorce; his grandmother, Shirley Forrester; his step-brother, Donnie James; his step-sister, Chelsea James; his uncles, Larry Shiver and Robert (Tricia) Shiver; his nieces, Isabella Dorce, Journee James, and Addison James; his nephew, Donnie James; several cousins.
