COTTONWOOD. . .James Alton (Buddy) Henry, a resident of Cottonwood, passed away Tuesday morning, December 13, 2016, at his home after LIVING with ALS. He was 62.


            Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, December 15, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Don Tew officiating . The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Alabama Chapter, P.O. Box 2888, Huntsville, AL 35804 or Covenant Care, 1512 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301. Buddy would also like for you to tell someone that you love them.
            Buddy Henry was born in Yokohama, Japan and reared in Cottonwood, son of the late Charles Alton Henry and Evelyn Gamble Henry. He was a 1972 graduate of Cottonwood High School and received a nursing degree from Wallace Community College. He furthered his education by earning a degree as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the Manley L. Cummins School of Anesthesia. He lived in Montgomery and Dothan before returning to Cottonwood in 2003. Buddy was retired, due to disability, from Flowers Hospital, as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Rebecca Register Henry; two daughters, Leslie Henry Hines (Brad), Memphis, TN; and Lana Henry, Dothan; three brothers, Steve Henry (Darlene), Bainbridge, GA; Larry Henry (Virginia), Dothan; and Wayne Henry, Dothan; a sister, Ann Ramsey (Chuck); two grandchildren, Evie and Ally Hines; several nieces and nephews.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Lynn, Cynthia, Sara, and Mario for the loving care and kindness shown to Buddy during his illness.
