James Coleman Stephenson, a resident of Dothan passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 from injuries sustained in a car accident in Barbour County. He was 32 years old.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Sumerlin officiating. Burial will follow in Louisville City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.


Cole was born February 13, 1986 in Dothan, AL and was a 2005 graduate of Northview High School. After high school, he entered service with the U.S. Coast Guard and served for 10 years, stationed in St. Petersburg, FL, Northfolk, VA, and Morgan City, LA. Cole enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a huge Auburn Football Fan.


Survivors include his wife, Michelle Stephenson; his son, Hunter Dale Smith; his step-daughter, Scotlyn McGuerty; his mother, Michelle Stephenson; his sister, Kristina “Kristi” Jane Stephenson; his uncle, Jimmy (Doris) Stephenson; his aunts, Pat (John) Rudd and Barbara (Bill) Scroggins.
